I keep getting disappointed by the end of trilogies. The first book hooks me in as interesting... the second one is (understandably or not) building to a crescendo... and the third one keeps letting me down.
It seems that everyone is writing to that form now and it annoys me at times. Some stories need a bit more development than a three arc would allow and some only require one or two books to get to a good finish, so what is the obsession with three aside from commercialism? ;) /soapbox
But yeah, I read that trilogy -- I liked the hooks and plot of the first one, but did not enjoy the second and third one as much.
