Oh, definitely. I loved how the first one felt like a locked room murder mystery just waiting to happen. (Especially the parts with her trying to sort out what kind of a person Valek really was beneath his steely exterior.) The jungle setting was pretty neat, but the southern capital she described meant very little to me.
I also felt kind of weird about Yelena's parents as characters (although I suppose Snyder meant for that to be the way) and her brother... well, I got tired of him very quickly. The other magicians were slightly more compelling, although not too much so. Too many characters in too short a narrative span!
